ÇAKÜ’s Interdisciplinary History Workshop Concludes: A New Perspective on the Past

The “Complementary History Workshop,” organized under the BAP Social Contribution Project in coordination with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Science Communication Office of Çankırı Karatekin University (ÇAKÜ), was successfully completed after an intensive seven-week program.

The workshop concluded with a ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş, Rector of Çankırı Karatekin University, offering participants the opportunity to approach history not merely as a sequence of events, but within an interdisciplinary framework enriched by literature, sociology, psychology, and other related fields.

A Gateway to New-Generation Historiography

Held between 2 October and 14 November 2025 at the GSB Şehit Uhud Kadir Işık Youth Center, the workshop convened every Thursday and Friday. Coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türkan Polatcı Demirkol of the ÇAKÜ Department of History, the program comprised 15 seminars delivered by 15 distinguished scholars.

The primary aim of the workshop was to encourage participants to reinterpret the past, present, and future from a fresh perspective, fostering an understanding of history shaped through its deep connections with other social sciences.

Strong Public Engagement

Open to university students, researchers, and all citizens interested in history, the program created a scientific and cultural meeting ground in Çankırı. The seminars offered throughout the event attracted significant interest and made a meaningful contribution to the city’s academic life.

In the closing remarks, officials emphasized the importance of such interdisciplinary initiatives for bringing science closer to society and strengthening the integration of the university with the city.
